'Serenity' Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick by Gerard Cosmetics and Manny MUA

This Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick is everything I've ever wanted from a lip product. Not only is it the perfect colour and the formula is the best my lips has ever had the pleasure of meeting, but it was created in collaboration with Manny MUA.

Manny MUA, as I'm sure many of you know, is a makeup guru over on YouTube, he has time and time again inspired me and made me laugh. He is downright one of the funniest people I know of and his makeup looks are beautiful and elegant; if you love watching makeup gurus, I would definitely recommend checking him out!
What really makes me over-the-moon ecstatic about this collab is that he's a guy, I know that is an obvious observation but if we stepped back in time a few years, like a decade or something, I don't know, I really don't think a man would be able to wear makeup (without some fallout (oh my god, the pun) at least) let alone create his own product with an amazing and esteemed company. So, I'm over here celebrating still because this is amazing, this isn't a perfect world so it is such a success and a step in the right direction for a guy to work with makeup and be admired and supported by so many.

Anyway, I'm gonna stop with that before things get a little too deep and move onto the product itself!

Here I am wearing Serenity, the camera picks up more of the pink than the eye does, it also looks paler on me in real life.

Gerard Cosmetics have described Serenity as "a beautiful warm pink, with hints of brown, a very comfortable non-drying matte formula that feels as if there is nothing on your lips!" and they are completely on point with this statement. You should have seen me when I saw that the pink lipstick was evened out with brown tones because this is the most complimentary type of pink for my skin tone. I was straight on the website, buying this lipstick and when I finally got to try it on, I was not disappointed at all. It is a really natural pink for me so I don't feel scared of wearing it, I know that, as I'm quite pale, the lipstick will almost blend into my face and not stand out and this is a massive plus for me!

Two drugstore lip products that I think closely match Serenity's colour are Barry M's new Matte Me Up Lip Crayon in Dress Rehearsal and Maybelline's Color Drama Pencil in Nude Perfection. So if you want to pop in to Boots or Superdrug to get a swatch of these two, that would be a great way to test the colour before deciding to buy Serenity (these products only match in colour not formula and from the picture you can see that the colours aren't a perfect match but have that same brown-toned pink vibe going on)

I think the pictures and the description from Gerard Cosmetics really hit the nail on the head so I don't need to go into anymore detail on that front, except that this obviously looks different on different skin tones so keep this in mind when deciding whether to purchase it.

The application is so easy! This is coming form someone who is a complete train wreck when applying lipstick, liquid lipsticks can often be a little tricky but Serenity's wand and formula make it glide onto your lips evenly and I get it done neatly in one attempt (which is embarrassingly a massive deal for me -.-).

The only other liquid lipsticks I have experience with are the Superstay 24hr liquid lipsticks from Maybelline and they are super drying, it doesn't help that my lips are already dry, so I was worried that Serenity would have the same effect, but it didn't! The line is called Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipsticks for a reason! It doesn't dry out your lips at all, on top of that, they feel completely comfortable. A lot of the time lipsticks make themselves known especially after wearing them for a while, and lipstick is the first thing I remove when I take off my makeup. Serenity doesn't, I could wear it all day! As a reference point, the formula reminds me of Collections Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream, but obviously the quality differs and the Lip Cream won't have as much staying power. I would say that, for me at least, the lipstick sinks into the cracks in your lips if you lips are prone to cracking (I know that some people like this look so it's all down to personal preference). The website also states that the formula is cruelty and gluten free, if that sweetens the pot for anyone, animal testing is a big thing for me, personally, so seeing that little rabbit logo makes me very happy.

I have only worn this lipstick a couple of times and I ate while wearing it both times so I can confirm that it doesn't stay strong through a meal but I don't know many lip products that do so I don't see this as much of a downfall. I think because it is so comfortable, I can completely forget about it all day and not have to reapply it, so I would recommend this lipstick for those days where you want to put your makeup on in the morning and not think about it until you're taking it off in the evening.

The price of this lipstick is $20, roughly £13, but Manny has a discount code on his launch video that takes a massive chunk off the price as well as offering free shipping internationally, using this code meant that I actually spent less on this Gerard Cosmetics lipstick from america than I did on the Maybelline lipstick from my local Superdrug!!!! Like, guys, that's insane!

To bring this review to a close, I can only say that this has easily become my favourite lip product to date! I cannot fault it, everything from the colour to the packaging is wonderful and I'm so happy for Manny. I would give this product 9/10 but only because it could stay on my lips a little longer but for what you're paying for it, I really don't care about having to touch up after eating.

I hoped this helped and thanks for reading!!!
